About an hour ago I was in a Mango Panic.
The UPS man came by and dropped my lovely Lilly dresses off on the front step. So, of course, I immediately tried them on. This inspired me to try on at least 5 other fun Lilly/Melly M. dresses from last summer...and corresponding sandals, summery heels, etc. Nevermind that it snowed this morning, I was in summer mode and nothing was stopping me. I ran downstairs, grabbed a mango from the crisper bin and started slicing. Before I could really think about it, I had popped a couple slices in my mouth and was blissfully imagining laying out in the backyard, sipping on lemonade. You get the picture. Well, at that point I had a kind of strange feeling that something was amiss. I had eaten the peel on at least 3 slices of mango. I wasn't really sure if that mattered or not, but it just didn't seem quite right. A couple google searches later (like "How to eat a Mango" and "What happens if I eat Mango peel") I was in complete freak out mode! Several google hits suggested that not only is Mango peel INEDIBLE and related to poison ivy, it can cause your face to blister and turn red if you're "sensitive." What does "sensitive" mean exactly? Pretty much everything about me is sensitive. I use lotion for sensitive skin, contact solution for sensitive eyes, I'm allergic to any non-precious metal. Oh no! Now, Little Miss had a summer that she ate mangos practically every other day. I called her as fast as I could grab my iPhone.
Me-"Little Miss...can I ask you something?"
Her-"Uh, are you okay?"
Me-"Yeah...you know, just eating a mango. [exaggerated pause] You know that summer you ate a million mangoes? Did you ever eat the peel?" [hoping that she'd say yes.]
Her-"Noooo, I only ate the inside. Isn't the peel really thick and stuff?"
Me-"AHH! I ate the peel & Google says it's in the Poison Ivy Family!"
Anyhow, Little Miss consoled me and said that I should be fine. She didn't even ask why I was eating a mango in the middle of winter. When I told her I got my dresses in, it seemed to make complete sense to her! haha! That's why I love her. Sisters are the best!
Needless to say, I proceeded to wash down my potentially-poisonous summer snack with a little oreos & milk. And I'm alive.

I have the spring fever too
I just found your blog and it is so cute :-)
Kudos to you being a dental student! I gather you live in KY, where do you go to Dental school? My husband's dad was a professor at the UK dental school. He taught oral chemistry. It's funny, whenever we move and have to find a new dentist ( well this happened twice to us) and the dentist went to UK and sees our last name, they will say "I remember on of my professors in dental school had that same last name"...and it usually was husband's dad :-)
Sadly, he passed away from cancer, and I never had the chance to meet him.
Anywho, love you blog

Oh my gosh, I totally ate mango peels when I was a little girl. I was fine!!! If you don't mind growing a couple extra toes, you'll be ok.
;) JK. You'll be fine girl! :)
The picture on your blog header is the most adorable thing ever--what a cute couple y'all are!
oooh, I always cop out and pay extra $ for peeled and sliced mangoes. PS- I know how it goes w/ new clothes- you have to pull up old favorites and do a fashion montage! too fun :)
so glad we've got the rowing connection! If You Tell Anyone (linked on blogs I read) was my stroke seat in college.
