I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten to tell you all about our wonderful weekend in Western Kentucky! I'm staying at Mr's parents' place, so I don't have our usual computer. I've got to figure out the computer-in-law! I've got a few fun pictures I want to share...but it looks like they'll have to wait!
As far as the internship in Louisville goes, thank you for all the well wishes! I think it's going to be a lot of fun! There are four women dentists that work there, so it'll be really interesting to be in a different dynamic than the usual. (Dentistry is still primarily a Man's world!) ;) Only thing is--I was such a Nervous Nelly. I don't know what it was, but I definitely had "First Day of School" jitters! My heart was already thumping as I walked up to the clinic!
To amplify the situation, the dentist (I'll call her Dr. P) shows me around the facility by trotting up and down the four flights of stairs. {picture me breaking a sweat & still trying to look calm, cool and collected} Then, she shows me the operatories. They are amazing! New chairs, new handpieces, new hardwood floors. New Blood Pressure Machines. I don't know why, but I definitely get freaked out when anyone takes my blood pressure. I feel like I am taking a test, and they are judging me based on the outcome. As soon as I saw the BP cuff, my heart started racing! Next thing I know, Dr. P has me strapped into the machine.
Dr. P: "Do you mind if I run it?"
Me, trying to tell myself that my blood pressure does not define my self worth: *gulp* "Oh, nah! Go ahead!"
BP cuff reading: A million/A zillion.
I could've died right there. If not from a sky high blood pressure, then from embarassment.
Me: "Oh, goodness! I guess I'm a little nervous, it being my first day and all!"
Eeek! SOO dorky.
Seriously, I'm sure Dr. P thought something was seriously wrong with me!
Oh, well! Tomorrow is a new day, and I've already got the first day out of the way! I start seeing patients, so I think it'll feel more natural.

At least you got the first day behind you . . . it can only get better. :) You'll do great!
oh no! a million/a zillion is a pretty high blood pressure :) I'm sure you'll be just great once you settle in!
so funny! I have "white coat syndrome" when my BP is checked... no biggie to look like a nervous nelly!
no need for you to be nervous!! YOU are beautiful. lol dorky is darling! no worries at all! Can I follow you along for this fun ride?!
FOUR flights of stairs?? How big is this place?!?! And, just for the record, i think its kind of weird that she wanted to take your blood pressure!
Don't worry the same thing happened to me when I was working a health fair- these people insisted on taking my BP and I was like oh it's usually low I don't need to and they kept insisting so I gave in and it was like 145/95 so I immediately started panicking. I was like it's probably from standing on my feet and walking around a lot plus I just had a diet coke, I'm fine really. They kept telling me I should go see a doctor soon. So I immediately went to my grandma's after work and took it and it was back down to normal!! But it made me feel sooo embarrassed!
Glad you made it through the first day. Relax and enjoy the internship. Definitely odd that she wanted to take your BP.
Hey lovebug! I stopped by to tell you, I am LOVING your homecoming queen picture on your madres blog. You are too cute! And, how come you do even look an ounce awkward!??? Mine, a complete wreck next to yours! Xoxo-BLC
To all of you lovely ladies:
Thanks for the good luck! ;) It was my third day today, and I'm already getting into the groove of things! (thank goodness!)
To Katie: haha...it's not a sky-scraper dental clinic, the dental area is only on one floor, but they provide other health services in the building! It is pretty darn big though!
To katie and Nat: I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets freaked out over BP checks!! ;)
To BLC: I think the picture you're thinking of is actually my little sister at the Kentucky Derby Festival Ball when she was a Derby Princess! I actually was the homecoming queen at my college, though! & my little sister was 3 years later! I'll have to post those pics sometime...it was too much fun! But I'll pass the compliment onto Little Miss! OH-& any of my homecoming pictures from high school are probably pretty darn awkward too! LOL!
haha...(I am not laughing at you.. but with you! heehee) too funny! I'm lovin the comments! That thought of *4 flights? what a gigantic practice...* entered my head too!
And I am posting the pic of you and LittleMiss with y'alls UofL homecoming tiaras :o)
I am so proud of you! ...can't wait til you will do all my dental work!
*shamelessly asking whoever wants to stop by my blog place, pls do... and pls leave a comment, so I know you stopped by*
Yep, I would been half dead after four flights! lol!
You have a kindness that comes through via a blog, as I only know you in blogland, I'm sure in real life you exude the same spirit. That is why I know they will all love you & be glad you came to their office! NO WORRIES!
