fat & happy

That pretty much describes me after this weekend at Mr's parents' house!

I hope y'all had a great weekend!  I'm sorry I haven't written since Friday, but Mr's parents have just stepped into the new century with wireless internet, and we haven't quite worked out all the kinks.  So, only the desktop computer actually had internet, and Mr. was furiously studying like the little smarty-pants that he is for an exam he took yesterday!  (& I felt a little silly asking him to take a break so I could blog! ;)

Regardless, here is a synopsis of our weekend and any weekend at the Mr's parents' place:
  • Good home cooked meals (including but not limited to chicken with dressing, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce, apple pie...)  This explains the "fat" part of this post title.
  • Hanging out in the den and watching either a movie or football game (this time it was "Body of Lies")
  • Dad-in-law pours Mom-in-law and I a glass of wine while we read and chat (I read her original copy of Little House on the Prairie!  I know, it was written for children, but sometimes you need a little brain candy.  It took me straight back to the good ole days!)
  • Sleeping in
  • Church on Sunday
  • Sunday dinner while the puppies play (our Cocker Spaniel Malone and their insatiable boxer named Lucy)
The church in Mr's hometown is where we were married!  So, it was especially fun, since it was the first service that we were back home since our big day!

As far as yesterday goes...it was a Monday.  I was supposed to be at school from 8am-8pm because we have pediatric dentistry clinics at night.  Since my patient had a stuffy nose (and Lord knows you can't take an impression, which entails a mouthful of supposedly-minty white goo, on a six year old who can't breathe through his nose!), I managed to get home a little earlier than planned!  Afterward, Mr and I did our P90X work out.  It about killed me.  haha!  So, during the last 5 minute "bonus round," I headed down to the kitchen to fix dinner instead.  Since it was approximately 12 degrees yesterday, I fixed some chili and corn cakes for dinner.  Actually, I don't know if I should actually call them corn cakes, fried corn bread...or what they truly were:  fried corn mush.  A patient of mine suggested that I try corn mush.
It sounded pretty entertaining, and I am always up for new food.  So there I was, pan frying slices of "corn mush."  It's really the exact same thing as corn grits or Polenta.  They looked like little corn pancakes, and it tasted pretty darn good all fried up! Not a bad addition to our bowls of chili!

Anyway, I'm so glad that it's Tuesday! It's supposed to be 60 degrees by the end of the week!  I am really excited, but Mom & Dad are making me jealous!  It's supposed to get up to 78 degrees in Savannah!  What would I give?
Since I'm reminiscing about the warm days in Savannah, here's a picture of Mr & I at Tybee Island a couple summers ago.

Yes, I am pitch-black-tan, and Mr is wearing his cap backwards.  Yes, that's my favorite Lilly bikini.  Yes, I would give about anything to be there!
