wooohoo! First week at work!

I was borderline embarrassed to post this, but...what the hey! ;) This week has been a whirlwind, but I've already started to get the swing of things & I'm pretty excited to be a real working dentist! It's really weird introducing myself as Dr. ________. But, I think I'll get used to it!

I was kinda worried about what all the dental assistants and hygienist would think of me, but I've just tried to be myself. Today, I said bye to everybody and thanked them for helping me figure out my way around the office and policies, etc.

Well, one of the dental assistants responded by saying, "Yeah, I was worried about you at first."

{Um...excuse me? cue internal panic mode...}

Chimes in a second dental assistant, "Mmmhmm, I was worried about you too!"

{Ahhh...seriously. At this point I'm trying to figure out if I seem really THAT clueless and fresh outta school!}

So, I ask..."Really?"

And she said, "Well, I was worried that you were going to be mean!"

Let me just say that I have been described as lots of things. Naive, yes. Prim and proper, sure. Girly, of course! But MEAN has never been an accusation against little ole me!

I quickly laughed (surprised) and said, "Being mean is not something that you have to worry about with me! Maybe I'm a little quiet at first, but I hope you didn't think that I was being mean!"

Luckily they quickly said that they don't think I'm mean at all, so they're glad that I'm working there now. WHEW! Talk about getting a complex! I don't know why they ever thought that I might be mean. I called my bestie sorority little sister, LB and told her about it. She started laughing hilariously because she said that is definitely not something to worry about!

Anyhow, here's to one week down of joining the work force (and I hope everybody gets to know the real me!) And, thank you SO much for all the well wishes!
